This Thursday will remain a significant spiritual milestone in the life of IMIF. In the gentle warmth of a Bujumbura morning, a breakfast like no other took place. Around the table, the IMIF staff and the pastors—the pillars and representatives of various local churches—gathered as one.

The goal of this meeting went far beyond simple administrative formalities. It was, first and foremost, an act of humility and gratitude. We were there to honor these men of God, for behind every member and every volunteer of IMIF, there is a church. There is the spiritual authority of these servants. It was a solemn moment to say thank you: thank you for the spiritual education received in their congregations, thank you for the fervent prayers that cover us, and thank you for the wise counsel that guides our steps in our daily activities.

The morning continued with a deep and enriching time of sharing. The representative of IMIF traced the path traveled, from the organization’s creation as a Christian work to its current evolution as a movement. He passionately emphasized a fundamental biblical principle: the central role of the Church in sending missionaries, and the vital place of the missionary within the Church. A sacred symbiosis.

Then, the floor was given to our spiritual fathers. Their words were a true anointing for our hearts. Every speech, every piece of advice was imbued with a paternal warmth and a wisdom that moved us deeply. In a reciprocal spirit, promises sealed this union: they pledged their unwavering spiritual support for all our upcoming activities. In return, we committed to always honoring them, thus obeying the Word of God.

And this was only the beginning. We agreed that moments like these will become a regular occurrence. Because we have understood an essential truth: we do not only come seeking blessings. We come seeking counsel. We want to learn, alongside them, how to serve God in the calling He has entrusted to us, by continually cultivating unity and humility. It is together, hand in hand with the Church, that we can move forward according to God’s heart.

The culmination of this meeting was a moment of intense grace. The pastors surrounded the entire IMIF team for a prayer of blessing and protection. But beyond the words, there was raw emotion: words of encouragement, gestures of love, and those comforting hugs that remind us we are one single family.

Leaving that table, we didn’t just depart with full stomachs, but with burning hearts and renewed minds. We feel re-empowered, ready to work with even more fervor for the expansion of the Kingdom of God.

To God alone be the glory for this wonderful day.
